Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about finding, filtering, and using business opening data from OpeningsData.
About the data
What is OpeningsData?
OpeningsData is a searchable dataset of businesses identified as opening soon or recently opened. You can build a list based on business type, country, location, expected opening date, and data freshness, then export the results in CSV or JSON format.
Where does the business information come from?
The businesses were found on Google Maps. We collect and process publicly available business listing information, including opening-related signals shown with a listing.
OpeningsData is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google.
Does “opening soon” guarantee that a business will open?
No. “Opening soon” reflects information available when the listing was discovered or updated. Opening plans and dates can change, a launch may be delayed or cancelled, and source information can be incomplete or outdated.
Always verify important details directly with the business before relying on them for outreach, travel, purchasing, or other decisions.
How current is the data?
The dataset is updated continuously. Use the Published after filter to focus on recently added or refreshed records. Update timing and coverage vary by country, category, and source availability.
How many leads can I expect per month?
Based on our experience, you can expect approximately 5,000 fresh business leads per month worldwide in total, with the majority coming from the United States. Actual volume varies by month, market coverage, and the availability of new opening signals.
What information can a record contain?
Depending on availability, a record may include the business name, category, address, country, business phone number, business email, website, Google Maps URL, opening information, and other business-listing details. Not every field is available for every business.
OpeningsData contains business contact data only. It does not include personal names, employee profiles, or named decision-makers.
Search and exports
Do you offer a trial version?
We do not currently offer a separate trial of the full OpeningsData membership. However, you can test the data through our Apify Actor using your own filters. You will find the Actor link and trial details on our pricing page.
Apify's Free plan currently includes $5 per month to spend in the Apify Store or on platform usage. An Apify account is required, and Actor usage, available credits, and any charges are governed by Apify's current pricing.
Which filters are available?
- Business type
- Expected opening month
- Country
- US state for United States searches
- Published after for data freshness
- Include recently opened businesses
Which business categories can I search?
Available categories include Auto Services, Bars & Nightlife, Beauty & Personal Care, Coffee & Tea Shops, Education & Childcare, Fitness & Wellness, Health & Medical, Other Services, Pet Services, Real Estate & Housing, Restaurants & Food, and Shops & Stores.
Which countries are currently covered?
Current country filters are the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany, and France. United States results can also be filtered by state.
How does the opening-date filter work?
Select an available month and year to find businesses expected to open during that period. If you do not select a specific period, the search can include all currently available opening dates.
Can I include businesses that have already opened?
Yes. Enable Include businesses that have already opened to include recently opened listings alongside upcoming openings.
Which export formats are supported?
You can download results as CSV for spreadsheets and CRM workflows, or JSON for software integrations and data pipelines.
Are downloads limited?
No. An active membership includes unlimited CSV and JSON downloads, with no credits or monthly download quota.
Can I avoid downloading the same businesses again?
Yes. OpeningsData tracks download history and supports skipping previously downloaded places when you build a new export.
Ways to use OpeningsData
Opening-soon data is especially useful when timing matters and you want to reach a business before its supplier and marketing decisions are finalized.
Can you give me an example search?
For example, select Restaurants & Food, choose United States, and select an available opening month to build a list of upcoming restaurant and food businesses in that market.
Responsible use
Can I contact businesses in the dataset?
You are responsible for ensuring that your outreach is lawful. Follow all applicable privacy, anti-spam, telemarketing, consent, suppression-list, and do-not-contact requirements. Contact information in a public listing does not by itself mean that the recipient consented to marketing.
Can I resell or redistribute the data?
Your membership allows internal business use. You may not resell, publish, sublicense, or redistribute the data as a competing database, directory, API, data feed, or lead-generation product without prior written permission. See the Terms of Service for the complete rules.
What if I find incorrect or outdated information?
Please report it to support@openingsdata.com with enough detail to identify the record. Because listings and opening plans change, we recommend independently verifying every critical detail.
